Executive Leadership


Charlie has served RCA and its communities for over 35 years. As president of RCA, he oversees the operations, growth, expansion, and performance of RCA-managed communities, including Kirby Pines Estates and The Farms at Bailey Station. Charlie was a local builder who also has experience in the real estate, food service, local politics and financial sectors. He currently serves as a trustee of Mars Hill University.


Michelle Trammell-Vincent has more than 25 years of development, sales, marketing, and management experience. As the senior vice president of Retirement Companies of America (RCA) in Memphis, Tennessee, she oversees the development, growth and performance of The Farms at Bailey Station. Her prior operational experience includes serving as the executive director of Kirby Pines and administrator and interim chief executive of Steadman-Hawkins Clinic (a world renowned orthopedic clinic) in Denver and Vail, Colorado. After founding the Securities Group, LLC, a broker/dealer direct participation firm, and Credence Properties, a residential real estate investment firm, she continues to manage both businesses. Michelle earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in management from the University of Memphis. She is a licensed securities principal.

Rick Cumberland

Rick Cumberland has served senior living communities for over 30 years, including roles as chief operating officer, senior vice president, regional director and executive director. As the chief operating officer for Retirement Companies of America, Rick brings a wide range of operations and marketing experience at the site, regional and corporate levels. Having served as chief operating officer of Ascension Senior Living and previously as senior vice president of Greystone Management Services, Rick has spent the last 20 years serving non-profit senior living organizations across the country.

His experience includes mature communities as well as brand new operations, and one of his core strengths is building effective, high quality teams. His passion for service excellence and leadership development fit well with the RCA philosophies of quality of life and servant leadership. Prior to senior living, Rick served as chief financial officer for the Aurora Foundation, a Christian ministry, formerly the Tropicana Foundation, and has served on various boards of faith-based organizations. He majored in theology and music at Nyack College.


For over 35 years, Annette Marlar has been part of the RCA family. She currently serves as director of medical services, human resources and public relations at Kirby Pines. After graduating from Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, she oversaw classroom and clinical instruction at the teaching hospital. Her prior work experience also includes working at Cedar Crest Hospital in Humbolt, Tennessee as the director of nursing services.   Annette remains active in Sigma Theta Tau International, an honor society dedicated to the nursing profession. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing form Union University; a Bachelor of Science degree in organizational management from Crichton College; and a Master’s degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix. Annette has been a part of the State of Tennessee Board for Licensing Healthcare Facilities since 1998. She is also a member of the American Nurses Association; the Tennessee Nurses Association; the National Gerontological Association; the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants; and the Society of Human Resource Managers.


Tim Cox is vice president of finance for Retirement Companies of America, LLC, a position he has held for over 10 years. Tim began his career as a certified public accountant and was promoted to audit manager with Arthur Andersen & Company. He later assumed positions as controller, vice president and chief financial officer of several privately-held companies before joining Sara Lee Corporation as the group vice president of financial planning and analysis. Most recently, Tim worked as a consultant where he served as the acting controller with a large real estate firm and as acting CFO for a not-for-profit nursing home. He has been involved with the Alzheimer’s Day Services of Memphis for over 25 years. During his tenure with the organization, he has served as president, vice president, treasurer and board member. Tim graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.


Michael Escamilla has served more than 30 years in professional and progressive managerial roles serving senior adults. Since 2003, he has been the executive director of Kirby Pines, a community managed by Retirement Companies of America. His responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations of the continuing care retirement community. He previously served as executive director for Classic Residence by Hyatt’s Palm Beach County premier CCRC, Lakeside Village. Michael is involved as a member of the Board of Directors for Creative Aging of the Mid-South, a not-for-profit foundation that brings cultural arts to seniors in Memphis Tennessee; and is active with The Decorative Arts Trust at the Brooks Museum. Michael earned his undergraduate degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and completed his graduate studies at the University of Houston in Texas.

RCA is unique in that those chosen to serve on the board either live at one of RCA’s properties, or have parents who do. They truly have a pulse on the communities and are involved in day-to-day operations. Their service is very personal, and they hold their responsibility close to their heart.
